FDP Analysts - Past and Present

Past analysts have ranged in backgrounds, working-styles, and career paths, but all have tirelessly worked to advance the Finance Development Program.

SUHAYB ALI (2023-2025)


Suhayb graduated from the University of Michigan's College of Literature, Science, and the Arts in 2023 with a major in Biomolecular Science focusing in Pharmacoeconomics. His prior internship experience included working as an investment analyst for Ameriprise Financial. His passion to improve patient wellness by optimizing healthcare systems using financial analytics led him to his role at Michigan Medicine. In his free time, Suhayb enjoys golfing, traveling, and watching new movies.

JACK WOLFE (2023-2025)


Jack graduated from the University of Michigan's College of Literature, Science, and the Arts in 2023 with a major in Economics and minors in American Culture and Business through the Ross School of Business. Prior to joining the FDP as a full-time analyst, he worked as a Consumer Centric Intern for UnitedHealthcare. Jack's interest in healthcare and finance has led him to his current position at Michigan Medicine. In his free time, Jack enjoys spending his time in northern Michigan, watching movies, and rooting for Detroit sports teams.

NICOLE GIBSON (2022-2024)


Nicole graduated from Eastern Michigan University in December 2021 while majoring in Supply Chain Management and minoring in Health Administration. Prior to joining the FDP as a full-time analyst, she worked as a Procurement Intern for the University of Michigan. Nicole’s passion for health and improving patients standard of care ultimately led her to her current position at Michigan Medicine. Outside of work, Nicole enjoys working out, baking, and traveling.

ELIEN MICHIELSSEN (2021-2023)


Elien graduated from the University of Michigan’s College of Literature, Science, and the Arts in 2021 with a major in Economics and a minor in Entrepreneurship.  During her time as a student at UM, Elien found her passion at the intersection of healthcare and business. She participated in the Health Sciences Scholars Program and was elected as the Finance Chair for the Society of Women in Economics. In her free time, Elien enjoys taking spin classes, cooking, and traveling.

CHRISTINA PRICE (2021-2023)

Christina graduated from Northwestern University in December of 2020 with a major in Learning and Organizational Change and a minor in Global Health Studies. Prior to joining the FDP as a full-time analyst, she worked as a Performance Improvement Intern for Northwestern Medicine. Christina also has experience working as a Business Transformation and Strategy Intern for a health insurance company. Her passion for improving the quality of patient care and business outcomes led her to join Michigan Medicine. In her free time, Christina enjoys spending time outdoors, reading, and traveling to new and familiar places.

After the FDP, Christina Price took a position as a Project Manager at UW-Health in Madison, WI.  

SARAH GARGAN - Alumna (2020-2022)

Sarah graduated from Hope College in 2020 with majors in Economics and Psychology. Prior to her role as a full-time analyst in the FDP, Sarah worked as an inter-departmental intern at Integrated Health Associates (IHA) where she collaborated with the Quality, Operations, and HR teams on a variety of projects. Sarah’s passion for innovation in healthcare and desire for a dynamic work environment led her to her current role at Michigan Medicine. Outside of work, Sarah loves staying active, reading, traveling, and trying new recipes.

After the FDP, Sarah took a position as a Business Consultant for Michigan Medicine's Medical School Administration team.

ADAM HILU - Alumnus (2020-2021)

Adam graduated from the University of Michigan's College of Literature, Science, and the Arts in 2020 with a major in Economics and minors in Business and History of Law and Policy. Prior to returning to the FDP as a full-time analyst, he was an intern in the program. Adam’s interests in health care, strategic finance, and policy, as well as his attachment to Michigan Medicine that he gained as an intern, led him to his current role. In his free time, Adam enjoys playing and watching sports, reading, and following the stock market.  

CARLY PAVLIS - Alumna (2019-2021)

Carly graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison's College of Letters and Science in 2019 with majors in Economics and Psychology. Prior to her role as a full-time analyst in the FDP, Carly worked as a Charitable Fund Intern for DuPage Medical Group. Outside of the office, Carly enjoys traveling, reading, and staying active through sports and exercise. 

KRISHNA PATEL - Alumna (2019-2021)

Krishna graduated from the Saint Louis University’s College of Public Health and Social Justice in 2019 with a major in Health Management & Policy and minors in Public Health and Health Care Ethics. Prior to her role as a full-time analyst in the FDP, Krishna worked as an administrative intern for the Director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital. Krishna’s interests in health policy and passion for non-profit organizations led her to her current role at Michigan Medicine. In her free time, Krishna enjoys running, reading, and re-watching “The Office.”

JAKE SNEAD - Alumnus (2018-2020)

Jake graduated from the University of Michigan's College of Literature, Science and the Arts in 2018 with a major in Economics and a minor in Applied Statistics. Prior to his role as a full-time analyst in the FDP, Jake worked as an intern in the program.  His other internship experiences involved Data Analysis, Finance, and Accounting with Gentex Corporation, and Aon Risk Services. Jake's affection for the University of Michigan and it's values of excellence and advancement led him to join Michigan Medicine, a leading organization in healthcare. In his free time, Jake enjoys golfing, and plays on a local men's league ice hockey team. He is also an avid Michigan Athletics fan, and holds season tickets for both basketball and football.

JOEY PANELLA - Alumnus (2018-2020)

Joey graduated from the University of Michigan’s Stephen M. Ross School of Business in 2018 with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and a Supplemental Studies in Public Policy Certificate from the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy. Prior to joining the FDP, he worked as a Finance Intern at Esperion Therapeutics – a lipid management biotech company in phase three clinical development of two drug candidates – and as a Project Consultant at student-led startup StepFor – a mobile app that helps users turn daily steps (via phone or Fitbit) into charitable contributions. Outside of work, Joey enjoys travelling, health and fitness, and re-watching “Game of Thrones.” 

After the FDP, Joey took a position as a Technology Transfer Fellow with the University of Michigan. 

ASJA KEPES - Alumna (2017-2019)

Asja graduated from the University of Michigan's College of Literature, Science and the Arts in 2017 with a dual major in Economics and International Studies. Prior to her role at Michigan Medicine, she interned at Nuveen Investments and Discover Financial Services. Her passion for non-profit organizations and desire to increase global access to healthcare lead her to her current role within the FDP at Michigan Medicine. Asja enjoys writing, practicing yoga, learning languages and traveling in her free time.

TRAVIS TAGSOLD - Alumnus (2017-2019)

Travis graduated from Central Michigan University’s College of Business Administration with a Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration with a Finance major in 2016. Prior to accepting his full-time role in the FDP, he worked as a Risk and Incident Management Intern at PNC Financial Services Group, and had Financial Analyst Internships at Bissell Homecare, Inc and Dow Chemical Employees’ Credit Union. Outside of the office, Travis enjoys golfing, snowboarding, traveling, live music events, and spending time with his dog.

TOMMY WYDRA - Alumnus (2016-2018)

Tommy graduated from the University of Michigan’s College of Literature, Science, and the Arts with a BS in Neuroscience in 2015. Prior to starting his full-time role in the FDP, he worked as a Project Manager/Implementation Consultant for Epic, where he coordinated the Orders application implementation at the Mayo Clinic.  When he was a student at UM, Tommy worked at UHS as the Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention Program Assistant where he focused on more effectively presenting the risks of alcohol and drug use to students on campus. He also spent time working in the Dean of Students office, focusing primarily on Greek Life programming. Outside of work, Tommy enjoys traveling, health and fitness, and reliving his glory days while playing on a local Men’s League hockey team.

VINCENT YUE - Alumnus (2016-2018)

Vincent graduated from the University of Michigan’s College of Literature, Science, and the Arts with a BA in Economics in 2016. Prior to starting his full-time role in the FDP, he worked as an Audit Intern at KPMG, where he assisted in the year-end audit process of a global financial services company.  When he was a student at UM, Vincent was a captain of the University of Michigan Fencing Club.

ALEX BERCU - Alumnus (2015-2017)

Alex graduated from Michigan State University’s Broad College of Business with a BA in Finance in 2013. Prior to starting his full-time role in the FDP, he spent over a year working at the UM Revenue Cycle, helping to streamline the building of reports relating to the collection of insurance payments and the tracking of various work queues.  In his spare time Alex enjoys golfing, fishing, and cheering on the nearby Detroit and MSU sports teams.  

After the FDP,  Alex joined the Clinical Financial Planning & Analysis team.

KEN JOHNSON - Alumnus (2014-2016)

Ken graduated from the University of Michigan in 2014 with a BBA focused in finance from the Ross School of Business.  Prior to starting his full-time role in the FDP, he worked as an EIT Project Management Intern at Cardinal Health.  When he was a student at UM, Ken was a teaching assistant at Ross for BIT 200 and TO 311, two business technology courses.  

Upon completion of the program, Ken decided to pursue his doctorate degree at the University of Michigan Law School.

TYLER HUGHES - Alumnus (2014-2016)

Tyler graduated from the University of Michigan in 2014 with a BBA focused in finance from the Ross School of Business and a BS in Political Science. Prior to starting his full-time role in the FDP, he worked as a computer consultant and project coordinator for the University of Michigan and as an account executive for CDW-G. When he was a student at UM, Tyler served as the president of the Michigan Rifle Team.  In his free time, Tyler enjoys spending time in Northern Michigan, as well as traveling around the U.S. in attempt to visit every MLB ballpark. 

After the FDP, Tyler joined the Medical School Finance team where he managed the FDP and the Medical School Data and Analytics teams. He is currently a Senior Analyst with the Department of Urology.
