Values and Competencies
Within the Finance Development Program, we strive to model our values in our daily behavior and work products so that we can continue advancing the program.
Leadership
The FDP grooms candidates with high leadership potential for leading at all levels of the organization - both formally and informally. Strong leadership qualities in candidates allow for an immediate impact at Michigan Medicine.
Drive
The FDP enjoys solving problems that "can't be solved." Grit, determination, and an ambitious approach allow candidates to achieve previously unattainable results.
Professionalism
In a highly visible program with significant exposure around Michigan Medicine, FDP analysts conduct themselves with the utmost professionalism and poise in order to continue to advance the FDP brand.
Growth Mindset
The FDP strives for continuous improvement. Regardless of project, career-stage, or existing acumen, FDP members constantly remark, "This is great, but how can we make it better?"
Creativity
FDP members need to have the creativity and flexibility to approach problems in new ways, using innovation and problem solving to propose concrete solutions to abstract issues.
Open-Mindedness
The FDP prides itself on readily listening to viewpoints presented, synthesizing discussions, and providing solutions that incorporate benefits from all proposals.
Competency Growth and Professional Development
With a major focus on personal and professional growth, the FDP continually works to provide opportunities for analysts and interns to develop and hone skills. Some of these events include:
Competency development summer sessions
Participation in Mindful Engagement development sessions
Bi-annual meetings with executives setting goals and examining professional development opportunities
Rotations customized for the areas where candidates desire growth
Use of Michigan Medicine's competency model, including financial and leadership competencies
Examination of various strength, working-style, and motivation assessments in order to help analysts learn about personal traits and interacting with individuals from different styles
